Kyron - 3 Months

Every time Kyron reaches a new month milestone I realize how few pictures I've taken!  Bah!

There was no doctor's appointment this time around, so I don't have any updated weight and height stats, but this little guy is definitely growing!  No longer do 3 month clothes fit--I had to pack those all away!  I'm surprised he's growing as fast as he is, because can this boy spit up his meals!  I have to do multiple wardrobe changes daily for both Kyron and me because of the projectile outbursts he has.  He usually fusses right before, so I feel bad that he's dealing with pain or discomfort.  But that is pretty much the only time he does fuss!  I can't get over how pleasant he continues to be.  Recently, I've been able to keep him in his little bouncy chair while I prepare meals or do other household tasks and as long as he can see what is going on, he stays pretty content.

He continues to smile on demand and we just can't get enough of it!

His sleeping habits are what I hope to see improve next.  He sleeps in his crib now--he just likes to stay up till midnight or so and then get up at 3:00 AM...so I'm definitely running on fumes.  Geoff has started putting Kyron down at night so I can get a little more sleep before his feeding and this has helped out TREMENDOUSLY.  He's also starting to coo and chatter a little more and he becomes really verbal when Dad holds him in the evening.  Baby sounds are the best!

Mother's Day 2019

On Mother's Day I was showered with even more love than usual from Geoff and the kids.  Geoff took the girls to the store on Saturday to pick out flowers and treats and the girls made cards--but the best gift was seeing their sweet smiles when they presented their treasures.

Card by Eliana

Eliana is big into cutting things these days...this was the final creation

Lillian's card - she gave each stick figure hair and faces

Hylie drew what I looked like when I was 6 along with Jared, Janna, Dean, Grant, and Eric

Motherhood is teaching me a great deal about love, patience, and sacrifice.  Each day I'm reminded of how much more I still need to learn.  I've been extremely blessed with a very forgiving family who is willing to grow with me.  This year I found myself reflecting on Mother Eve.  She paved the way for all mothers and I wonder what kind of support she had?  I call my dear Mother multiple times a week to ask questions, talk about the children, and discuss how to deal with my shortcomings.  Eve did not have the tremendous blessing of a mother to turn to and lean on as she reared her children and figured out life on Earth. How thankful I am for all the mothers who have come before me and exemplified unconditional love, nurturing, and hard work.  I pray I may be able to show my children the blessings of motherhood and that at the end of every day they  know I love them dearly even if my imperfect reactions and responses don't always reflect this.

Easter Skirts

No, I truly didn't have the extra time to make these little Easter skirts, but how I loved doing it!  The girls were very excited as well for their Easter outfits and I thought they looked pretty darling in them!  I was pretty proud of myself, the pattern didn't call for pockets, but I really wanted them so I found a free pocket pattern online and tweaked it to fit this particular skirt.  This was my first time working with elastic and I found I definitely need to learn more before I take on my next project--the skirt waists were way too big!  Luckily, it's a problem that can be fixed, ha ha!

I also stayed up way too late putting these necklaces together.  But the girls were thrilled with them, so to me, it was worth it!

Easter 2019

On April 21st, we could not have asked for a more beautiful Easter morning.  It was sunny and in the 70's---pure delight.

Keeping it real!

This cute outfit is all thanks to Grandma Nelson--and it also inspired the girls' outfits as well!

All week we had been talking about the Savior's last 7 days on earth, and when Sunday morning came around I kept craving the song "He is Risen" and played the Tabernacle Choir's recording of it several times--what a glorious message!  The girls have been learning a lot about Jesus Christ through scriptures and songs and I hope the stories and testimonies they are becoming familiar with will sink into their hearts and they will truly know their Savior and want to be like Him.

Other Easter festivities included two egg hunts with friends and the Easter Bunny also came by our home.  The girls enjoyed searching for all their eggs and were pretty thrilled with all the surprises inside them.

I was asked to play the violin for Sacrament meeting.  I prepared a medley by Brent Jorgensen which included several songs that testify of Christ.  I worked as much as I could on the piece and prayed sincerely that I would be able to invite the spirit through this song.  As I practiced I noticed improvements that had to have come from Father in Heaven--I do believe that as we give what little we have, He multiplies our efforts.  For the most part, I was happy with how things went.  I know I'm no virtuoso, but how I love music and the blessings it brings to our lives.

Kyron - Two Months

This little bundle of cuteness turned two months on April 13th, and he was pretty excited about it!  I can't get over how smiley this guy is.  At his check up he weighed 13 lbs. 5 oz. and was 24" long.

He's giving us a little bit more of awake time but when he sleeps, he does best in his bassinet or car seat.  He still eats like a champ and as a result he is just barely squeezing into 3 month clothes.  If they're not stretchy--forget about it!  He continues to be adored by his sisters and is tracking everyone pretty well.  When it comes to tummy time, I have to put him on the bed or sofa because his face plants are a little too painful on the floor!

Kyron's Smiles

This little boy started giving us smiles when he was only 7 weeks old!

My heart melts every time he flashes this sweet, sweet grin!  Oh, we are so in love with this boy!

Tooth Fairy Adventures

For WEEKS Hylie's front tooth was wiggling all over the place.  Hylie was constantly playing with it, it would be bent in a different direction every time you looked at her, and it was getting pretty uncomfortable.  But that little guy did not want to come out.  Now, I have to confess here: I don't do teeth.  I don't know what it is, but a wiggly tooth sends chills up and down my spine.  So I never gave that thing a tug.  But Geoff sure did and it wasn't going anywhere.  Finally, on April 10th, after the girls went to bed, Hylie called for Geoff because she was able to twist the tooth around 360 degrees.  Her gums were bleeding from these acrobats, so Geoff gave it a good tug and out it finally came.  It was late, so Geoff took the tooth and Hylie was quite excited to share the news in the morning.

On Thursday, April 11th Hylie put that little tooth in her toothfairy pillow only to find Friday morning that it was still there.  She was devastated.  She ran into our room at 7 AM and reported to Geoff that the toothfairy hadn't picked up her tooth.  She thought she knew what the problem was: the last time the toothfairy came, Hylie was in a different room.  Obviously the toothfairy didn't know where to find her!  She had already searched under Eliana's pillow but was crushed to find nothing there. Even with such disheartening events, life still had to go on.  Geoff told Hylie she needed to get ready for school.  The girls were pretty down-in-the-mouth at breakfast, so Geoff recommended they look one more time and REALLY search Eliana's bed.  So the girls followed him back upstairs, pulled all the sheets off the bed, and looked around like crazy.  When Geoff picked up Eliana's pillow he thought he heard some paper crinkle.  Sure enough, they reached INSIDE the pillow case and found this magical note, complete with fancy stationary and swirly letters from the toothfairy!

Mystery solved!  Hylie was so relieved and needless to say, this was the topic of discussion all day long!

Guess what?  Having been up all night with Kyron, I slept through this ENTIRE ordeal Friday morning.  So, I woke up to three extremely excited little girls, and a husband who's been nominated for "Dad of the Century" award.

That night, the girls left a note under Eliana's pillow explaining where Hylie sleeps now.  Saturday morning revealed the toothfairy got the note, took Hylie's tooth, and left a little surprise in its place.  All was right in the universe...and I'm still in awe with how this all went down.

Hair Dos

While Mom and Dad were here at Kyron's birth, I asked Mom if she would help me cut Lillian's hair.  It was getting a little scraggly and to make it look presentable, I was putting piggy tails in her hair every day.  She definitely loved her piggy tails and she looked cute with them, but her fine hair was also breaking from this styling approach.  I was pretty pleased with the outcome and felt like she grew up over night with this new do!

Recently, Eliana has been big into 'wavy hair'.  We've tried sponge curlers with her in the past, but it's just too uncomfortable to sleep in.  So when she realized sleeping with braids was MUCH better, she's been requesting this stylin' option quite a bit!  And I must say, I think the look suits her!

One night after Hylie's bath, some of her wet hair was swept across her forehead and Hylie came up to me and pointed it out and said that she liked how it looked.  I asked her if she wanted bangs and with very little hesitation, she said yes.  I made sure she understood that once bangs were cut, it would take a LONG time to grow them out.  She seemed pretty confident about her decision, so I pulled out the hair scissors and chopped away.  I must say, I think she rocks these bangs!  My only regret is that we didn't cut them sooner!

Kyron's Quilt

Mom's outdone herself yet again!  I absolutely treasure these quilts.  In the past, Mom has had me sketch out ideas for the themes I've had for our babies, but this time I asked Mom if she would create this one instead.  I sent her a few picks to give her a vision and she completely blew me away with the finished result!

Thank you, Mom, for making such keepsakes.

Kyron - One Month

March 13th came super quick!  We blinked and Kyron became a one month old little boy.

He's adjusting to life out here.  He's definitely not a fan of diaper changes or baths and protests with screams and bodily fluids...and Mom's definitely not a fan of how he shows his disapproval.  But, that's pretty much the only time this little guy fusses.  If he's not eating, he's snuggling and sleeping.  He's doing a great job at nursing and if he decides to have awake time, it's during the daylight hours as opposed to the wee hours of the morning.  It looks like Kyron may just be a pacifier baby--I just wish the pacifier could also serve as a little plug to keep him from spitting up all the time!  Kyron prefers the cradle hold and will only snuggle on your shoulder if he is fast asleep--otherwise he's bobbing his head all over until you cradle him in your arms.

At his check-up he weighed 11 lbs. 10 oz. and is 22 long.
