Grammy and Pappy Visit

What a wonderful visit we had with Grammy and Pappy on October 30-November 3

Kyron loved meeting Pappy

and Grammy

There was definitely a lot of play time!

I think Lillian's face sums up how exhausted everyone was by the end of each day

There were smiles and laughs all through the visit.  We had such a wonderful time visiting, playing, and being together.  The girls to this day talk about the fun things Grammy and Pappy did with them.  We are so grateful they came out and gave of their love and time.  Already looking forward to the next time we can be together!

Trick or Treating 2019

This year we completely got gypped of fall.  Needless to say, I was NOT happy about that.  The leaves were just barely turning and then we got 3 inches of snow!  On Halloween!  Not cool.  Once the snow melted, the leaves were still on the trees--but they had all just gone brown.

The chilly temperatures, icy winds, and very wet and heavy snow made being outside pretty miserable--so we had to make a Plan B for Trick-or-Treating.  Mixing things up a bit was a little easier because [SPOILER ALERT!]

Grammy and Pappy Woodhouse were in town!  We decided to do indoor trick-or-treating to use up all the candy we had on hand to pass out to those who now wouldn't be showing up on our doorstep.

The kids were a little skeptical at first, but they understood that they would be getting candy so they played along.

Each grown-up waited behind a closed bedroom door and listened for the call of "Trick-or-Treat"!

Once they knocked on all the doors, I kept telling them that they missed a door, and led them over to the bedroom they had visited first.  I finally convinced them that we had not come to this door so they knocked and called out and sure enough, someone different answered!

Each grown-up had 3 wigs to change things up and let me tell you, Grammy and Pappy hammed it up!

The expressions on the girls faces were priceless

just like this picture of Pappy with a Cabbage Patch Doll wig on!

Everyone was such a good sport about this--we made wonderful memories, had a ton of fun, and got a pretty amazing stash of candy, too!

Halloween Festivities

Our ward had a very fun Trunk-or-Treat activity with lots of fun and sugar!

Hylie trying her hand...or mouth...at the donut game

I also had so much fun hosting our Preschool's Halloween party.  We invited some extra friends because the more the merrier, right?  These kids were so amazing!  They participated and loved all the activities we planned, did all the crafts, and played so well together.  I could host a party every day with these spectacular kiddos!

Halloween Costumes

As soon as September 1st hits, I'm asking the kiddos what they want to be for Halloween so I can get started on making the costumes.  I have such wonderful memories of my Mom sewing costumes, dresses, quilts, and outfits for me--so anytime I make something for the kids, I feel like a "real" mom.

Lillian was Cheer Bear

Eliana was Mega Man

Hylie was Ariel

(Because Ariel doesn't wear glasses)

And since Kyron didn't have a say in the matter, he was Charlie Brown

A very cute Charlie Brown, at that!

Carving Halloween Pumpkins

Lillian opted to paint her pumpkin this year

And completed the look with crazy hair!

She kind of loved how it turned out!

Hylie hard at work

She eventually pitched in to pull out all the pumpkin 'guts'

Hylie designed AND carved her pumpkin this year!

This is how much Eliana touched her pumpkin, she continues to have NO desire to touch a pumpkin seed or pull out a carved piece.

Dad handled all the dirty work while Eliana supervised.

Eliana drew her pumpkin face on a piece of paper before we started--I think she (and Dad) nailed it!
